Artist Statement
Michelle Snively-Jefferies
As a self-taught artist, most of her work is of a realistic style, with Acrylics being the preferred medium. Encouraged by wonderful friends and family, Michelle started pursuing her art career in 2003.
Influenced by the works of Georgia OKeefe and Andrew Wyeth her style continues to develop choosing familiar compositions with the expressive use of colour, light and shadow. Michelle paints in the moment; striving to stimulate the onlooker's senses and emotions. Creating beauty from the ordinary causes the excitement and intensity that keeps her at the easel for endless hours.
She is grateful for the opportunity to have experienced many shows and exhibitions. Her paintings now hang in the homes of private collectors across Canada and abroad; to Britain, Europe and as far away as Saudi Arabia. Like her paintings, she too has been on a journey of self-discovery and is looking forward to where this journey will take her.
